HELSINKI, APARTMENT HOTEL GELLA

I have another Helsinki recommendation to make. When we are in Finland as a whole family we tend to stay in a hotel. Hotel however is not always the most convenient option nor the most economical. I had toyed with the idea of a furnished, short let apartment before but trying to find a good one online isn't easy. There wasn't a website I found that stood out and I wasn't willing to trust the grainy pictures on the ones that I did come across. Then a friend recommended one to me so I thought I'd give it ago.

The apartment was in a new development in Eiranranta. It's located by the sea, a stones throw away from the very centre and a walking distance to the beautiful neighbourhoods of Eira and Ullanlinna. In fact I walked to the centre from there too but you could jump on a tram or a taxi and be there in a matter of minutes.

It had bundles of storage space, everything was new and fitted, kitchen fully equipped, furnishing new and modern and they were able to provide cots and high chairs. The development also has a huge advantage of an underground car park with direct access to the apartments. In the middle of the Finnish winter that has got to be priceless!

Going forward I'll always opt for this instead of a hotel (so tough to find a hotel room layout that works with young children) and would love to recommend to any Helsinki travellers. You can find the company's website here. They're called Huoneistohotelli Gella and they have a few apartments in this particular block. I'd be surprised if they weren't all as nice and practical as the one we stayed in.

Ps. Not sure they'll have us back though... within five minutes of arriving Baby M had redecorated one of their dining chairs using a blue marker. Guess she thought the decor needed a bit of spicing up.

  3. Kuulostaa todella fiksulta paikalta, jos matkustaa perheen kanssa. Sijainti aivan ihanalla paikalla. Hauskaa, että sulla on nyt eri linja, mitä tulee lasten näyttämiseen blogissa. Musta on hauska aina nähdä, minkä näköisiä lapsia ihmisillä on :) Suloiset muksut teillä!
