QUICK SNACK

Here comes my first post! I learned earlier this year I have a dairy allergy which felt a bit like a punishment. Bye bye milk chocolate, cafe latte, ice cream and pretty much all desserts (sorbet and fruits don't do it for me when someone's having a cafe liegeois next to you). I believe everything in moderation. I love eating tasty food that makes me feel good, but you have to indulge yourself every now and then.

My latest discovery is coconut yogurt. It's vegan, sweet and creamy. I also love nut spreads. For these crackers I used one layer of hazelnut butter and then coconut yogurt on top.

You can use it on different crackers, sliced fruits (apples are my favourite) and even on cucumber.

Simple and delicious!

  1. Odottelinkin jo ensimmäistä postaustasi! :)
Miten allergiasi ilmeni?

  2. No kiva ;-) lisaa tulossa. Mulla oli ikavia migreeneja, vatsa turposi palloksi ja sellainen nuutunut olo. Nyt on ihan eri energiatasot. Maitotuotteita voi korvata aika hyvin, kannattaa kokeilla.

  5. I have been drinking goat milk for at least 10 years as I discovered that my husband was not digesting milk very well (bloated feeling and indigestion …). Goat milk is often used for milk allergies and for children as it is the closest milk to breast milk. My daughter drinks it as a complement to breast milk and loves it. I make sure that it is not the UHT supermarket milk and I get it fresh from the farm. If it is fresh, it does not have any weird goaty flavour and I use it for my morning coffee (can’t manage to get rid of that one sweet morning coffee ;-)) As for cooking, I do not use cream, I instead use almond cream which works great for sauces. You can also use almond milk for your coffee. I will try the coconut yogurt, thanks for the tip. Xxx

  6. Oh my goodness, I could never live without ice cream! Good thing that stores have quite a few alternatives these days though... :) I actually got inspired by the idea of coconut yogurt so much that I had to try it out and picked one from the store one the way home. As a person who normally does not like coconut at all, this was a pleasant surprise! Now I am convinced that my coconut-hate is probably due to the texture of the fruit more than the taste :) Due to having nut-allergy I couldn't try the hazel nut spread, but the yogurt with just raspberries was incredibly yummy as well!

Looking very much forward to your future posts! :)

  7. I am so exited to read your recipes in future. Due to my daughter's severe milk allergy I had to change our whole family diet to dairy free. At first it was a huge shock as I love my cheesecake, French cuisine and ice cream but now after four months I have to admit that I feel physically so much more energetic and better overall. In my cooking blog I post lots of dairy free recipes in case you wanna have a look at it. Looking forward to your next post!

    1. Thanks!! I had a quick peek at your blog- yummy! Will definitely try some of your recipes. This summer I was missing strawberries & cream and Finnish pancakes with whipped cream. Let's face it- sometimes there are no alternatives :-)

  8. Hey all, have you tried soya products as a part of your dairy free diet? Soya is rich in protein, but unfortunately some people are allergic to soya as well.
