I forgot that I had a few more Dubai posts that I wanted to share with you. So here we go! We took a stroll along "The Walk" in Dubai Marina one evening whilst there. To my knowledge it's pretty much the only place in Dubai where you can actually do that; have a walk. The walk is lined up with restaurants and cafes where you can sit outside and watch the world go by.
I can't remember what was behind this but I would imagine that I was being a cheeky monkey. Sometimes I just can't help being so damn funny.
The main purpose of this trip was to take Little M to a school assessment. Yes, yes, I know... all the Finns out there are now thinking OMG she is not even four years old! (In Finland you start school at the age of seven and a vast majority of children simply attend their local school.) That's exactly how I felt too. However the school assured me that it wouldn't be a test as such, all it would involve would be playing with a teacher. And that it was, too. That didn't mean that I wasn't nervous about Little M's behaviour beforehand. I was pretty sure that she wouldn't willingly leave my side. I was totally wrong. She excitedly took the teacher's hand and marched off. She came and waved at me half way through. I was stunned. She was in there for about an hour and apparently hadn't stopped chatting for one moment. Guess that was a good thing as they accepted her. She has a place in a lovely school for the coming September. That was my biggest worry about Dubai so it was a huge relief.
