SOUTH OF FRANCE: PLAGE KELLER

Here we go... the first post in a series of South of France ones. I decided to make them in a format of travel tips. I know the summer has just gone but there's always the next one! :-)

Some of you will probably remember me mentioning this place before but because I spent so much time there this summer (and all the summers before it) it truly deserves its own post. I’m talking about a private beach in Cap D’Antibes called Plage Keller. I love everything about it; its bright yellow umbrellas and sun beds, the lovely staff (it’s family run and it shows), the great food (lobster salad, calamari and monk fish medallions are my favourites) and the incredible view. Early in the season when there’s still snow on the mountains the view on a clear day is breath taking. One of my favourite holiday things to do is sipping a glass of rose (Minuty or Domain Ott please!) with plenty of ice in it on one of their comfy sunbeds. The service is good and they cater well for children too. We’ve showed up with no beach toys but it was not a problem as the staff provided us with bag loads. My kids love their chicken thighs and chips on the childrens menu (and so do I…).

Plage Keller is not hip or cool or ultra modern with a sleek décor but it’s just… nice. A very nice place to spend your day in. They also have a more formal restaurant (still not THAT formal though) on the upper level. The dinner there is lovely and definitely worth trying even though I do prefer the beach and the beach restaurant. In fact so much so that on one particular evening we had so much fun there eating ice cream and drinking mojitos and watching our children put up a fashion show for us that we ended up keeping one poor waiter working until 10pm even though the beach officially closes at 7.30pm! He wasn’t too impressed… If you plan a visit remember to book your sunbeds and lunch table though as it gets seriously busy in season. I love the beds on the jetty and recommend booking one of those if you're with no children. With it's unfortunately impossible as it's pretty high up.

Plage Keller's website is here.

    1. Lontoossakin kesä on ehdottomasti ohi... aika kurjat ilmat olleet, mutta syksyssäkin on oma fiiliksensä :-)
