HEIDI IN MY KITCHEN

We had some special guests over for a playdate yesterday. Heidi and her two children came to have a play and got asked to cook us all lunch! ;-)

I had some cod reserved for the kids and instead of having it plain grilled like my children normally do Heidi made a healthy sauce to cook it in containing tomatoes, spinach, fresh basil and garlic.

Looks yummy, heh!

A tiny bit of chilli flakes, black pepper and Himalayan salt.

And then the fish in to cook.

Lid on until ready.

Whilst waiting for the lunch our tiny garden saw some action.

Heidi and her children didn't only come to cook us lunch, they also helped with cleaning! They're definitely welcome anytime!

As starters we had some crudites with my absolute favourite houmous from Waitrose. I've tried so many and this is the winner by far!

Lunch is ready!

Hmmm... wonder if it's any good. Yes it was, they all loved it. The fish was served with some brown spaghetti.

Little M shed a few tears after her lunch. It was because her mean mum (who had clearly put bronzer on in the dark that morning) suggested a kids cinema for the afternoon. Apparently she only wants to go to cinema with daddy so the suggestion was rather upsetting... well I'll know next time! ;-)

Heidi and I both have a soon to be 2-year old and a soon to be 4-year old. How we met was totally randomly at a London playground two years ago. We both had a newborn in the buggy and a 2-year old running around. Heidi heard me speak in Finnish to my children and came to introduce herself. She then left for Miami about a year ago but is currently staying in London. It's nice to be in the same place again for at least a little while! I'm sure we can fit in a couple of more playdates before we head off to different directions again.

PINENUTS IN COCONUT OIL

Hi guys! Hope you've all had a nice Monday. I had such a busy weekend that I'm quite tired and in need of a great night's sleep... I'm soon going to get that after an episode of The Americans. Have you seen it? It was recommended to me by a friend and now I'm hooked!

Anyway here's a little tip for those of you in need of something new to spice up your salads. I'm a salad lover. I could eat them for lunch and dinner, every day. And I do most days. I've always liked pine nuts in them and the other day I tried pan frying them in coconut oil with lots of black pepper and Himalayan salt. Absolutely delicious! A great extra to bring taste to any salad. You should try it!

Good night! :-)

WHAT I WORE: SIMPLES

I'm back in London for a few final weeks before heading back to France for the summer months. I have an extremely limited wardrobe during these weeks as the majority of my clothes is packed and ready to head to Dubai or waiting for me in France. I tried to leave out classics like this, the kind of wardrobe staples that are easy to combine into different outfits for day or evening.

Have a great weekend! I'm enjoying my last weeks in London by trying to see as many friends as possible before I leave. Tiring but a lot of fun!

WHISK

Whisk is a hole in the wall type of an eatery in South Miami - always full and super popular with locals. The owners are from South Carolina and the menu is famous for its Southern favourites: fried green tomatoes, grits, corn bread, fried buttermilk chicken etc. etc. Not a place for dieters that's for sure!

Avocado and shrimp salad was simply delicious!

Crispy brussels sprouts were amazing! I'm sure even better with a little bit of cheese on top.

Their famous burger.

Classic shrimp and grits.

LIGHT PROBLEMS

I mentioned that we need a new light above the dining table at our holiday home. Now you can see why... We've had this "temporary" lamp hanging over it for the past couple of years. You know one of those things in your house that you just never get round to doing. (There are others too, believe me!) What kind of a light would you choose? I always thought that I'd like a chandelier but I'm going off that idea. All in all I would like to tweak the interior to be a bit warmer and less glossy. I must be getting old!

MY NEW FAV EGGS

I can't cook. These days I make food quite often but it's all so simple that I wouldn't class it as real cooking. The biggest reason for not having learned how to cook more complex meals is that I actually like to eat simple food and so does the rest of my family. I also eat out so often that when I'm at home I want to keep my meals very light and clean.

Eggs is something I eat a lot. I try to include protein and greens in my breakfast and an omelette or scrambled eggs is a very easy and quick way to do that. This is my favourite scrambled eggs right now: two organic eggs, a juicy and ripe tomato chopped up, plenty of chopped up fresh spinach, a spoonful of goats cheese plus plenty of black pepper and Himalayan salt. Stir well and cook into a scramble or an omelette. The goats cheese gives it a great taste and a slightly creamier texture.

EASTER SUNDAY

I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend behind you! This is what our Easter Sunday looked like.

Some dippy eggs at grandmother's house to start the day.

And then an egg hunt in our garden.

This little one was again satisfied after finding just one… well until she had finished it and it was time to find more!

Sharing is caring. Like Little M keeps on teaching her little sister. Often with very little effect…

France hasn't been sunny or warm in the last few days but it was a lovely Easter with family and friends regardless!

VILLA DECOR INSPIRATION

Some Easter Sunday inspiration in a format of pictures of my friend's beautiful, newly renovated and decorated holiday villa. We're in a desperate need of a light above our dining table and I'm quite liking the idea of something in this style.
