We had such a fun Sunday the weekend before last. It was a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK so quite a few of ours friends happened to be over here in France at the same time. We invited them all over for a barbeque.
There were a lot of children. And a lot of noise. Water fights, growling competitions (don't ask) and people being thrown in the pool.
Catching bubbles from a bubble machine with a bucket. Quite unsuccessfully.
And then, most importantly there was eating. A lof of eating. In case you haven't noticed I love food and I love talking about it too. So let me tell you what we ate.
This is one of the most delicious things ever, a feta, watermelon and mint salad. A friend of mine taught it to me years ago and this rather surprising mixture of flavours works extremely well together. Normally I put in a lot more mint than in the picture but our local supermarket here doesn't sell fresh herbs (I know, odd) so we were in shortage.
I'm not so keen on mozzarella, which I find tasteless and rubbery but burrata (a much creamier and saltier type of mozzarella) is a different story. Our local supermarket here luckily does sell that so we were able to have a burrata, tomato and basil salad too.
A green salad of rocket, spinach, baby gem, coconut oil roasted pine nuts, green beans and parmesan.
My mouth waters when I see this picture. Parma ham and melon that was just perfectly ripe and sweet.
The salads would have done me on their own but I think the men would have not been too pleased about a bbq party without actually barbecuing anything. So we had burgers and chicken drumsticks.
And lamb chops. What's missing from these pictures are the fillet steaks we had. If any of you are holidaying in the area and looking for the best meat possible you must go to Froggy Gourmet. It's a little gourmet shop by the market in Old Antibes. The steaks are to die for. The best I've ever had. They should be as well for the price you have to pay for them! They're worth every penny though so every now and again for a special occasion that's where I head for some amazing ribeye or fillet steaks.
